Liverpool John Moores University ตั้งอยู่ที่เมือง Liverpool ซึ่งเป็นเมืองขนาดใหญ่ทางตะวันตกของประเทศอังกฤษ สามารถเดินทางไปยัง Manchester ได้ประมาณ 1 ชั่วโมง และเดินทางไป London ด้วยรถไฟประมาณ 2 ชั่วโมงครึ่ง มหาวิทยาลัยก่อตั้งขึ้นในปีค.ศ. 1825 เดิมเป็นสถาบันเล็กๆที่มีชื่อว่า Machanics institution (Liverpool Mechanic’s School of Arts) จนกระทั้งในปีค.ศ.1992 ได้กลายมาเป็นมหาวิทยาลัยรุ่นใหม่และเปลี่ยนชื่อเป็น Liverpool John Moores University ซึ่ง Sir John Moores เป็นคนตั้งให้

มหาวิทยาลัยมุ่งเน้นการสอนที่ทันสมัยให้นักเรียน สนับสนุนให้เรียนรู้จากประสบการณ์จริงจากบริษัทผู้นำทางธุรกิจและอุตสาหกรรมที่เกี่ยวข้องต่างๆ เพื่อที่จะได้ทักษะความรู้ระดับมืออาชีพและเป็นที่ต้องการในตลาดแรงงาน Liverpool John Moores University ประกอบไปด้วย 3 แคมปัสที่ตั้งอยู่ภายในเมืองและใกล้ City Centre แคมปัสของมหาวิทยาลัยยังถือว่ามีขนาดใหญ่ที่เป็นอันดับที่ 10 ในประเทศอังกฤษ รองรับนักเรียนกว่า 24,000 คนต่อปี เป็นนักเรียนต่างชาติกว่า 4,500 คน มหาวิทยาลัยเตรียมความพร้อมในการเรียนการสอนด้วยสิ่งอำนวยความสะดวกต่างๆจากการลงทุนกว่า 100 ล้านปอนด์

นอกจากนี้ยังมีความเป็นเลิศทางด้านผลงานวิจัย สำหรับด้าน School of Sport and Exercise Sciences และ General Engineering Research Institute และยังได้รับคะแนนสูงสุดระดับ 5 ในด้าน Teaching Quality and Research
