มหาวิทยาลัย Heriot Watt เป็นมหาวิทยาลัยผู้นำด้านงานวิจัยในสาขาที่หลากหลาย ได้แก่ science and engineering, business and management, และ languages and design โดยจากการประเมินผลงานวิจัยของ RAE ปี 2008 ที่ผ่านมาพบว่ามหาวิทยาลัยได้ลำดับที่ดีกว่าเดิมขึ้นมาถึง 9 อันดับ และผลงานวิจัยที่ได้ระดับดีเยี่ยมระดับนานาชาติเพิ่มขึ้นจาก 24 % เป็น 50% จึงแสดงให้เห็นถึงศักยภาพในการพัฒนาผลงานวิจัยของมหาวิทยาลัยอย่างต่อเนื่อง จนกลายเป็นที่ยอมรับในระดับนานาชาติ การพัฒนาทางด้านงานวิจัยอย่างรวดเร็วของมหาวิทยาลัย Heriot Watt เกิดจากความร่วมมือกันกับองค์กรระดับชาติที่หลากหลาย เช่น The Edinburgh Research Partnership (ERP), The Scottish Universities Physics Alliance (SUPA), และ ScotCHEM เป็นต้น มหาวิทยาลัย Heriot Watt นอกจากจะมีชื่อเสียงทางด้านการเรียนการสอน และผลงานวิจัยอันโดดเด่นจนกระทั่ง Times Online จัดอันดับให้ Heriot Watt ติดหนึ่งใน 50 อันดับแรกของมหาวิทยาลัยที่ดีที่สุดในเครือจักรภพ มหาวิทยาลัยยังมีความหลากหลายของนักศึกษา ซึ่งทำให้มหาวิทยาลัยมีความเป็น International อย่างแท้จริง เพราะในแต่ละปีมหาวิทยาลัยมีนักศึกษากว่า 10,000 คนลงทะเบียนเรียน และกว่าหนึ่งในสี่เป็นนักศึกษาต่างชาติ จากกว่า 150 ประเทศทั่วโลก |
